Women Often Get Confused About Dietary Supplements
By Dr. Holly Lucille
(NUI) - Nine out of 10 women agree that they need different dietary supplements than men, according to a recent survey, but more than a quarter of women are confused about which supplements to take.
In fact, the survey, commissioned by natural supplement maker Enzymatic Therapy, says nearly seven out of 10 women would give up their favorite pair of jeans to take the guesswork out of supplements - a big sacrifice considering that most women treasure their favorite jeans.
Whether they're in college, in the midst of raising families or empty nesters, most women understand that they have special needs when it comes to supplements and that those needs change as they age. No matter what their age, my patients are asking for help when it comes to choosing supplements.
As a naturopathic physician and specialist in women's health, day after day, appointment after appointment, women of all ages come to me for hormone-related issues - from transitioning into menopause to premenstrual syndrome. Most of these women come in with a recommendation from their physician that they begin take synthetic hormones.
I speak from experience when it comes to hormone imbalance. When I turned 38, my body flared up. I had unbearable periods, PMS, debilitating fatigue, weight gain, digestive disturbances and more. Once women understand what creates imbalance, they can tap the many safe ways to restore balance and eliminate uncomfortable, irritating symptoms while preventing disease and increasing overall quality of life and well- being.
To make supplement choices simple, Enzymatic Therapy has launched Easy Answers Lifestage System for Women made up of the three core supplements - a multivitamin, a hormone balancer and calcium - that women should take during each stage of their adult lives.
Easy Answers Lifestage System for Women is the second system launched by Enzymatic Therapy this year. The first, The Whole Heart System, includes a heart health multivitamin, a garlic supplement and a fish oil supplement.
